Complete to Apply for a District Officer Position

The Committees that need new chairs and Alt. Chairs are as follows: 

  1. Archives
  2. Corrections/Women
  3. Grapevine
  4. Literature
  5. Treatment
  6. Workshop

The officers need to have their resumes in by the next District meeting in October. Then, in November the District votes on who they want. The Committee Chairs are normally people that volunteer to be a Chair, or the new DCM can appoint someone for the position.   

All positions are 2 year commitments, and you can read more about what the requirements are for each committee as well as the length of sobriety that is needed in the Structures and Guidelines. The most important requirement is a willingness to be of service at the district level.

· Opportunity to demonstrate our GRATITUDE for sobriety by humbly serving our fellowship to ensure that we remain unified and available for the next suffering alcoholic that follows us– just as AA was available for us

· Opportunity to take action for our sobriety and win over COMPLACANCY by NOT SAYING someone else can do it, I don’t have time, It’s too hard, and/or I’m not qualified, etc., etc.

· Opportunity to Support and LIVE The Twelve Steps, The Twelve Traditions, and The Twelve Concepts of Alcoholics Anonymous through SERVICE

· Opportunity to use your personal experience and talents to ensure the AA Message is available for all current and future members of the AA Fellowship

· Opportunity to travel the World!! Well maybe not the World but you will meet many fellow travelers in District 17

· Opportunity to LIVE THE AA RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT:

I AM RESPONSIBLE WHEN ANYONE ANYWHERE REACHES OUT FOR HELP I WANT THE HAND OF AA ALWAYS TO BE THERE AND FOR THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE!!
